Building a Madoc Triple Planter
If building on an existing concrete base, start construction
at stage 4. If not building on existing concrete base, you will
need cement and all-in ballast for foundations.
1. Strip topsoil, dig to sub-soil/firm ground.
2. Set 4 corner pegs to form an oblong for the planter 1250 by
640mm. Check accuracy by measuring corner to corner. Both
measurements should be the same.
To make the lower ‘T’-shape of the planter, now mark out a
smaller square 640 by 640mm centrally from the front edge of the
rectangle.
3. Lay level concrete foundations using 6 parts all-in ballast
to 1 part cement, minimum depth 150mm.
4. Begin course 1 by laying the blocks, working from left to
right, ensuring the blocks are level and upright using a spirit
level and string line.
Bradstone composite walling can be built using
Bradstone Walling
Adhesive. Full instructions for use are included with the
adhesive. The adhesive should be applied to all joints.
Alternatively use mortar (3 to 4 parts building sand to 1 part
cement).
Choose mortar or adhesive depending on the look you desire for
your wall.
5. Complete the planter by laying courses 2 to 4, cutting the
coping as necessary.
