The Designer

Amanda Patton started her landscape design business, Amanda Patton Garden Design, eight years ago, combining her artistic flair with an extensive knowledge of plants to create stunning spaces ranging from small town gardens to large country expanses.

After graduating with an honours degree in textile design from the West Surrey College of Art and Design, Dorset based Amanda has spent over 20 years as a professional illustrator working on a range of archaeological, gardening and commercial publications. Amanda has also illustrated Alan Titchmarsh’s Complete Book of Gardening and How to be a Gardener as well as all four books in the BBC’s Ground Force series.

In 2002, Amanda’s Somerset Revival garden at The Chelsea Flower Show received critical acclaim and a silver-gilt medal from the Royal Horticultural Society. Amanda is also a talented photographer, winning the RHS Garden Photograph of the Year in 2003.

Amanda has recently beaten strong competition to win the 2008 Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) and Society of Garden Designers (SGD) garden design competition, sponsored by Bradstone. Amanda’s winning design, “The Traveller’s Garden – with Bradstone”, will be turned into reality at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in July 2008.
