Quote

“Art isn’t just visually appealing, it must move you, shock you, create emotion in you in some form. And so with gardens, they must move you on a deeper level than just being visually pleasing.”

The Challenge

See Bradstone at Hampton Court Flower Show on the 8th - 13th July 2008

A challenge was set by Bradstone inviting a member of the Society of Garden Designers (SGD) to design its garden for Hampton Court, with the garden being built by a ‘super team’ of contractors selected from the winners of the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) Awards.

The designs were judged by an esteemed panel including:

  • TV presenter and designer Joe Swift
  • Chelsea Gold medalist Sarah Eberle
  • Ian Wright (Bradstone)
  • Andrew Wilson (SGD)
  • James Steele-Sargent (APL)

And they picked their winner as Amanda Patton who designed the garden to the set brief around the theme of ‘The Traveller’s Garden’.

The garden build is being project managed by the Chair of the APL, James-Steele Sargent with a hand picked team of award winning contractors making Amanda’s dream garden, reality.
