Bradstone Challenger Breaks Round Britain World Powerboat
Record
August 2005
It’s a record! The Bradstone Challenger has stormed round
Britain to smash the Round Britain Powerboat World Record with a
fantastic time of 27 hours 10 minutes.
Tony Jenvey, Neil McGrigor and Jeremy Watts travelled an amazing
1691 miles of Britain’s coastline beating the previous record by 3
hours 41 minutes.
Starting at Cowes, the boat powered its way around the UK
passing Hurst Castle, Portland Bill, Land’s End, Bangor, Mull of
Kintyre, Skye & Western Isles, Cape Wrath, John O’Groats,
Petershead, Lowestoft, Ramsgate, Dover, Beachy Head and Selsey
Bill, before finishing back at Cowes.
Sponsored by the UK’s leading garden hard landscaping
manufacturer, Bradstone, the powerboat was made in the US and
underwent extensive testing to ensure it would reach maximum
performance levels.
Tony says, “Neil and I have been preparing for this for a long
time and to finally achieve our dream is amazing. To break this
World Record we had to reach speeds of 70 knots, which was a
phenomenal experience.
“We could never have accomplished this without Bradstone. Their
support has been fantastic and the company truly helped us realise
the dream.”
