Meet Paul Hervey-Brookes
Paul has been interested in plants gardens since childhood, some his earliest memories are those of being given cuttings and tubers to grow from neighbours whilst growing up in Oxford where he lived a short distance from the University Botanic Garden.
This interest grew into deep fascination and Paul studied at both Pershore College of Horticulture in and The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, giving him an opportunity to learn about plants and plant habitats from some of the most knowledgeable and inspiring plantsmen in the world. It was while working on gardens in Italy and France that Paul’s own ideas about garden design began to take form and shape.
Paul now runs a design practice which creates gardens of all shapes and sizes in the United Kingdom and internationally.
Show gardens by Paul
In 2009 Paul was awarded the Bradstone sponsored Chris Beardshaw mentoring scholarship, a scholarship which was run for 5 years where he was supported by Bradstone and Chris Beardshaw to create his first award winning show garden, the Bradstone Biodiversity Garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2010.
This journey proved addictive and Paul has gone on to create a series of show gardens winning Gold at Chelsea Flower Show, Hampton Court and on the international stage where he has won Gold and Best in Show in Japan and America. He has also created gardens in New Zealand for the Ellerslie International Flower Show and made a number of feature exhibits.
Working with us
Paul’s work as a garden and landscape designer is highly diverse from small courtyards to large estate gardens and public spaces, both in the United Kingdom and internationally.
In 2012, he was invited to design an exclusive range of gardening gifts for Marks & Spencer and he is an RHS Trials Judge, assessing plants for the Award of Garden Merit and has recently become a RHS Show Gardens Assessor and Judge. He writes for a number of magazines and has contributed to television and radio programmes.
Paul is now adding to this by working with Bradstone to help provide design ideas, planting plans, hints and tips to you create your own dream gardens.
