By Paul Hervey-Brookes

It doesn't matter what size plot you have, a balcony, even a door way can grow something. If your tight on space make the most of it with micro-veg - ideal for a small container or a Bradstone Raised Planter.

Miniature vegetables are cute! Cute and edible, so here are some ideas for what to grow in raised containers, pots and grow bags this summer.

Sweet dumpling squash is a delightful teacup size squash. It has a very sweet, tender orange flesh excellent for cooking. In appearance it is very striking being an ivory colour with dark green stripes.

Peppers now come in miniature varieties. Little bell peppers in yellow, red and chocolate that are averagely 2 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/4 inches long. Just right to pop in your mouth!

Baby eggplant is a fairly new mini vegetable. The plant itself is compact and produces lots of miniature tasty fruit that can be deep fried whole.

Of course you can grow peas and runner beans over wigwams in containers or over a door way arch. In a small greenhouse you can grow tomatoes and cucumber along with aubergines and peppers.

It’s easy to think all of this bounty is a long way off but prepare and start growing now indoors to get ahead of the came which March finally comes you’ll be 2 to 3 weeks ahead!
