Get funky and make garden paver planters

Garden planters can be expensive to buy but with a little can make your own designer planters.

For each garden planter you will need pavers and construction glue or if your more traditional you will need to drill holes and fill with wooden plugs you can screw into. The number of pavers depends on the size but four to five is generally the norm.

To construct take your pavers and stand on edge to form a square making sure that the edges overlap. Using the construction glue apply to the overlapping edge and press firmly into place. Repeat this until all sides are fixed together. Attach the bottom in the same way but apply the adhesive in small beads to assist with drainage.

If your making with the traditional method drill a series of holes where you will screw to secure the pieces together. If you are simply wanting to create a planter which is essentially a raised bed skip the bottom paver - you don't need it.

Leave to dry for 24-48 hours and then it will be ready for planting. Smooth Natural Sandstone paving are ideal for this project. Ivory will show off red geraniums,vSilver Grey for rosemary, basil or any other lush green herb and perhaps Rainbow for Tumbling Tom or Moneymaker tomatoes.

Alternatively you can make a larger planter using Panache walling topped off with panache edging and fill it with colourful summer planting.
