Summer garden party
With the weather hotting up we’re here to give you our top tips on creating the perfect space for your summer parties.
Give your Patio a Makeover
If your patio hasn’t had much TLC over the autumn/winter months, now is the time to show it you care. To get your patio gleaming once more, remove tables, chairs and pots and sweep with a stiff brush and water to quickly remove mud, dirt and plant debris. Allow the surface to dry, restyle garden furniture and reveal an ideal space to host your party.
Choose a Theme
It’s time to let your hair down and celebrate in style! If you’re inviting friends and family over for an outdoor soiree, go all out and give your event a theme. Whether it’s Summer Tropical with a Tiki bar and Mai Tais, or Quintessentially English with lawn bowls and Pimm’s, reflect your chosen theme in the decorations, entertainment and party food to create an instant party vibe.
Splash the Colour
The best decorations are those found in nature – so spruce up your outdoor party room with some strategically-placed flowerpots and colourful hanging baskets. If dining alfresco, take cuttings from your garden and arrange in a vase to create bright and cheerful centrepieces for the dinner table.
Fun For all the Family
What’s a party without a few games? If you’re hosting an event for all the family, why not invest in some giant outdoor games? From supersize Jenga to giant Connect 4, let the kids (and the big kids!) unleash their competitive sides while the food’s cooking on the BBQ.
Prepare for the Great British Weather
As we can’t guarantee the weather, prepare for all eventualities. Pop up some parasols and have sunscreen to hand if it’s looking like it’s going to be a hot one. A gazebo is a great idea in case of rain – or set up an umbrella stand outdoors, just in case. And, as the afternoon rolls on, light a fire pit, turn up the patio heater or offer round fleecy blankets to help keep away the early evening chill.
