Frequently Asked Questions

Our expert team have put together and answered our most frequently asked questions to help you with your readymix concrete order and delivery.

  • Do you mix the concrete onsite?

No, we pre-mix the concrete at our batching plant (as per each individual order) and then deliver this to you (ready to use) on our truck mixers. There is no extra 'just in case'. Please ensure you check your measurements carefully to ensure you are ordering the correct amount. If you over or under order, it can be very costly. Please use our Concrete Calculator to assist you.

  • Will someone come and install the concrete for me?

No, we only provide the pre-mixed concrete to you on our mixer truck. The offload and laying of the concrete would be down to you. You may already have a builder for this or may need to hire someone. Alternatively, you may decide to do the work yourself with help from friends or family. If this is the case please look at our How to guides for assistance and please thoroughly read and watch our concrete Health & Safety information.

  • When the truck mixer arrives on site, what should I expect?

When the truck mixer arrives on your site, the driver will assess the required delivery location, and discuss with you the best and safest method of discharging the concrete into the place you require. If it is not possible to get the truck mixer close enough, and you have notified us at the time of ordering that you may require it, off-loading directly into wheelbarrows* will be possible.

    *(1m3 = 25 to 30 wheelbarrow loads!)

If the truck mixer is required on site for more than 60 minutes, a small additional charge may be applied. It is a legal requirement that the driver washes his chutes before he enters back onto the highway after discharge. This will require a wheelbarrow, waste ground or skip to minimise your mess on site. Every vehicle will have its own wash-off hose and water on board. Please be aware even though we are offering a readymix service, this is still a heavy goods vehicle.

  • Will you deliver 24 hours a day?

Our normal delivery hours are between 07:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday & 07:00 - 12:00 on Saturdays (subject to delivery area). You will be able to request a time slot when placing your order, and we endeavour to meet that time slot, although we do usually require a minimum of 24-48 hours notice for delivery. Often we can do same day deliveries, should you require this service please contact us and our sales team will do their very best to make this happen for you. Equally, please feel free to chat online to a member of our team.

  • What happens if I order too much concrete?

We do not accept returns due to the perishable nature of the concrete products (concrete is not reusable). If you do find you have too much concrete, you would be subject to a charge for the disposal of the remaining concrete (this is in addition to the original cost of the concrete, charges will be detailed on your quote / confirmation order). This is why it is so important that you are accurate when measuring your area and calculating the concrete you require. Our concrete calculator will be able to assist you in ordering the correct amount of concrete you require.

  • How long before the concrete goes off?

The chemical reaction that takes place within a concrete mix begins as soon as the cement and water are mixed together. This means that dependant on the travel time from our concrete plant to your delivery location, usually you will have between 1 – 2 hours once the concrete arrives on your job to place, level, compact and finish the mix. Higher strength mixes will generally give a little less working time than lower grades. Please ensure you have enough people to complete your project on time. We do offer high performance products which gain early high strengths, when faster strength gains are required. If you’re unsure about any of this information please refer to our How to guides or contact us.

  • How long does a refund take to clear?

A refund will be made to the payment card that was initially used to make the purchase, usually within 3-5 business days of being initiated. For any questions please contact us

  • How much does a cubic metre of concrete weigh?

One cubic metre of concrete weighs around 2.4 tonnes. That equates to about 25-30 wheelbarrow loads per 1m3!

  • What if I want to change my order?

Changes can be made to orders if we have enough notice. Making changes on the same day, or close to the time of delivery could cause an issue. It's important that you have all of your concrete mix and quantity information correct at least 24 hours before delivery. If you feel you are unsure and need help to confirm you have everything correct, please contact our sales team who will be happy to assist you.

  • What do I do if I need to cancel my order?

If you need to cancel your order please get in contact with us as soon as possible. We require a minimum of 24 hours notice when cancelling a delivery. Cancellations with less then 24 hours notice will be subject to a cancellation fee. If you have any questions regarding cancellations, please feel free to contact us.

  • How do I get the concrete from the truck to the hole? (prepared area for concrete installation)

You would need to assess your site to see if it is possible for our trucks to pull up and discharge directly to the hole. Our Truck Dimensions page should help you with this. Where this is not possible (for example you require the concrete to the rear of the property) you may need to hire a concrete pump to place the concrete. This is always advised where possible over wheelbarrowing the concrete as it is much faster, cleaner and less labour intensive. Please see our How to guides for further advice.

  • I'm using wheelbarrows to move the concrete during delivery - how long will it take?

We do not suggest the use of wheelbarrows to offload the concrete. There are approximately (depending on the size of the barrows) 25-30 wheelbarrow loads to 1m3 of concrete (1m3 being the equivalent of 2.4 tonnes) and you only have 60 minutes to offload the concrete before you start to incur additional waiting time charges. It is far less labour intensive, and usually more cost effective to hire a concrete pump. For further info, please refer to our How to guides
