Georgian inspired

Elegant buildings positioned along beautifully paved streets

The concept

The Georgian period stretched from 1714 to 1830. It was a broad period in time producing elegant buildings, paved streets and fashionable towns such as Bath and Brighton.

Create the look

Our guide to styles which complement Georgian buildings suits anyone wanting inspiration for period properties,  from the early 19th Century and those simply who love the elegance of the time.

Keep paving simple, be inspired by large flags and riven finishes. Old Town and Old Riven are perfect traditional paving types but smooth contemporary natural stone paving such as Natural Slate will give a smart look as well. Remember the key is to accent colours in the building such as limestone cornerstones or to pick up the local stone colour in the paving you choose. Don't forget natural stone chipping are perfectly at home around Georgian houses as well for a softer feel.

Planting should always be elegant and simple, think simple whites, such as Hydrangea quercifolia and double Aquilegias combined with late season Agapanthus.

Georgian design is always subtle and understated, the easiest way to achieve this look is neatly clipped hedges, cones or balls of buxus or slowing growing ilex crenate. Smartly painted Versailles style planters or slightly more modern lead plants will give a timeless sense to the scheme.

Old Riven

Old Riven is perfect for creating an affordable patio area that doesn't compromise on style and quality.
