2012 BBC Gardeners' World Live

2012 BBC Gardeners' World Live

The Honda 'Childhood Memories' garden at Gardeners' World Live exhibition was designed to provoke nostalgic childhood recollections among show-goers, of time spent outdoors in the garden.

Garden designer Adam Frost choose Bradstone's Smooth Natural Sandstone in Silver Grey to reflect the theme.  The paving perfectly complemented the green, silver and purple planting scheme and was used to weave a path from the back to the front of the garden.
Adam broke down three patio packs to get the look and added 900 x 150mm linear pieces for a contemporary feel.

Best in Show and RHS Gold Medal winner

Judged to the same RHS standards as Chelsea, this stunning garden was awarded 'Gold' and 'Best in Show' at the show which attracted thousands of gardeners from all over the country. The garden featured a woodland area with a firepit set into the Bradstone paving and housed a tent that doubled as a den. "It's just you, dad, the dog and a packet of marshmallows to toast on the fire. Bliss."

To complete the theme there were dipping ponds and a play lawn for a game of boule or skittles with grandad.  Additionally, vegetables in a family garden were planted at the front of the garden. All of these were an intereptation of precious childhood moments, especially relevant as the final day of the show is on Father's Day. As a final touch, all the main elements of the garden, including the Bradstone paving were donated to Greenfingers which creates gardens for children in hospices all over the country.
