In very straightforward terms, responsible sourcing is all about measuring the specific environmental, economic and social impacts of any product, taking into account such factors as its manufacture, delivery, use, re-use and recyclability.

The good news is that Aggregate Industries was the first company in the world to achieve the BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing Certificate from BRE Global.

Responsible sourcing is just one of many important environmental steps taken by us.

Your assurance from us

As part of Aggregate Industries, we take our ethical trading and corporate and social responsibilities very seriously. We support the ethical working principles of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and adhere to the ethical trading section of the United Nations Global Compact. Moreover, we have also drawn up a policy and code of practice that, as a very minimum, ensures our suppliers comply with local laws and internationally recognised standards.

The same stringent standards are adhered to when it comes to our corporate and social responsibility. As well as making a direct contribution, we work with our suppliers to develop educational facilities, including the funding of teachers in schools.

Our suppliers also invest in renewable energy technologies such as wind turbines to help power the communities in which they operate, at the same time as offsetting their carbon footprint. Just a few of the steps we’re taking to impact positively on the lives of the local communities.
